Burt Munro Challenge

Congratulation Invercargill, the Burt Munro Challenge (http://www.burtmunrochallenge.com) was a stunning success. I will return next year for sure.
The ride from Auckland gave an opportunity to enjoy parts of new Zealand long forgotten. Even minus 3 degrees crossing the Lindis Pass at 0600 in the morning on our way home again was fabulous.
The Invercargill hospitality was unparalleled and even tenting was fun. This event will certainly grow and out your fabulous town on the map internationally. Well done!

Election Bollocks

Well Done Helen Clark. Ramming through the Electoral Funding act (whatever its called) the other day has very likely sealed your fate. I certainly looks like something I would have expected for Robert Mugabe rather than a New Zealand politician. Are you really that determined to hold on to power at all costs?

I love the new cars too. Have you ordered you new super yacht. The Iraqis have Saddams yacht for sale - might just suit our beloved leader!

At least someone is showing a little sense and readdressing the future of Whenuapai. That is a vital strategic resourse and to even think for a moment that low cost housing would be a suitable use is just plain nuts. It has to become a civilian airfield again; anything else is just plain madness despite what WAAG (We Are Awfuly Greedy). WAAG of course are only concerned with their own property values which they think will be enhanced by closing the base. I can't help thinking that the establishment of civilian jobs at Whenuapai and the proximity of a civilian airport would add much value more than closure!
